The Michael M. Boone Elementary Parent Teacher-Organization interim Board of Directors has announced that Blythe Koch will serve as President and Andrea King will serve as President-Elect of the Boone PTO in 2020-21, its inaugural school year. These talented community leaders were nominated by a six-member committee consisting of representatives from the Hyer and UP PTAs and were unanimously approved by Boone PTO's Interim Board of Directors.
Koch grew up in the Park Cities and attended Bradfield Elementary, McCulloch and HPHS (Class of '97). She currently serves as the Fundraising Chair of the Hyer PTA and has previously served as Treasurer and Grounds & Building Chair. She has also served on the HPISD Facilities Advisory Committee and the HPISD Rezoning Committee. Koch and her husband, Adam, have three children, HPMS seventh-graders Natalie, MIS fifth-grader Cooper and Hyer third-grader Blake.
"The opening of Boone Elementary School is going to be such an exciting year!" Koch said. "I look forward to collaborating with parents from UP, Hyer and Armstrong as we build community at Boone, create new traditions for our children, and support our outstanding faculty and staff. I am honored to have the opportunity to play a part."
Originally from West Virginia, King moved to University Park with her family almost five years ago from Charlotte, North Carolina. She and her husband, Troy, have three children, UP fourth-graders Sheridan and Kendall and first-grader Lucy. King is currently serving as the UP PTA Special Events Director and has previously chaired the Carnival, Third Grade Musical and Field Day.
"I'm excited to have a small part in creating something new at Boone Elementary that will benefit the community and children for years to come," King said.
In the coming weeks, Koch and King will begin planning for Boone's inaugural year in coordination with Boone Principal Amanda Reyes. The support and enthusiasm from Boone parents and the HPISD community will be vital to a successful opening year. For parents interested in serving as a 2020-21 Boone PTO officer or chairperson, further information regarding Boone PTO nominations will be communicated in each elementary schools' e-News this month.
