Since Spring Break, students have been working remotely to define their entrepreneurial skills, develop pitch decks, collaborate with professionals on marketing plans and assemble growth projections.
Modeled after Shark Tank, the entrepreneurship reality show, student presentations were judged by a panel of business and community leaders including Charlotte Jones Anderson of the Dallas Cowboys, Matt Hickey of AT&T, Ollie Chandhok of the Dallas Business Journal, Robert Campbell of Credit Union of Texas and as moderator, Trey Bowles of the Dallas Entrepreneurship Center.
The businesses pitched included college guidance services, a talent-booking website, portable water filters, mobile salon and a crowdsourcing tutoring program. This year's winner was team Campus Captured with Nell Covington, Ashlee Newton, Trip Lee and Caroline Dugan. Runners-up were Ogen Water Filter with Luke Schneider and Bennett Handler.
