Recent graduate Presley Echols ('20) was honored at the Lady Scots soccer team's opening game for being named the United Soccer Coaches 2020 National Player of the Year.
Echols, a current University of Texas player, was awarded this national honor after a record-breaking career at Highland Park High School. During her four years at HP, she scored 158 goals, helped lead HP to two state championships in 2017 and 2019, was a four-time All-State player, a two-time Dallas Morning News Player of the Year, a USA Today Female Athlete of the Year and a four-time All-American. This most recent accolade is among the highest honors a high school player can earn.
The United Soccer Coaches Association is an international organization representing coaches at the high school, youth, college and professional levels of coaching.
