HP swimmer brings home 2 state championship medals

HPHS junior Lindsey Hosch brought home both a gold and a silver medal from the UIL 5A State Swimming and Diving Championship Meet March 2 in San Antonio. Hosch won the 100 breaststroke and set a new state record with a time of 1:01.76, and she took the silver medal as runner-up in the 100 butterfly.
 
The Blue Wave girls finished in ninth place overall, with senior captain Maddy Helton finishing seventh in the 100 back and eighth in the 200 free. The 200 freestyle relay team of Helton, Hosch, Alicia Bi and Katherine Huang finished eighth, and the 400 free relay team of Huang, Taylor Copeland, Sarah Ho and Bi finished 15th. HP swimmers Sophia Pan and Campbell Schulz also qualified to swim in the meet.
 
"I was so proud of how hard the girls worked through the craziness of the year," Head Coach Jesse Cole said. "They stayed upbeat and positive and did a great job."

For the boys team, senior Dash Walford finished eighth in one-meter diving.
