HPISD welcomes new Lady Scots head soccer coach

McGough comes to HPISD from Austin ISD's Anderson High School, where she taught chemistry and biology and coached the girls soccer team to four post-season playoff runs, most recently to the 2021 regional quarterfinals.

McGough earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of Texas, where she was a four-year womens soccer letterman and senior captain. While a student at West Brook High School in Beaumont, she was named girls soccer district Newcomer of the Year, and Most Valuable Player for three consecutive years.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Aaron McGough as the new head coach for the Lady Scots soccer program," HPISD Athletic Director Johnny Ringo said. "Coach McGough brings tremendous success and experience both as a coach and past player. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for Lady Scots soccer!"

“I am excited to join the Scots family as the girls head soccer coach," McGough said. "I have enjoyed playing and coaching soccer for more than 20 years and I am honored for the opportunity to continue my passion for the game. I look forward to sharing my experience and love of the game with the young women of the Highland Park soccer program and working alongside the administration, community, the coaches and players to continue the tradition of excellence. Go Scots!”

McGough and her husband Ryder have been together for nine years. They have a two-year-old son, Wells, and baby on the way, due in the fall.
