Highland Park Middle School student Mary Claire Richardson was recognized at the Oct. 12 School Board meeting as the winner of the 2021 HPISD Birthday Card Cover Art Contest held over the summer. Mary Claire, a seventh-grader, designed a cover ideally suited to HP using colored pencils and markers. The art contest is open to HPISD students in all grade levels and is held each summer.
Mary Claire attended the board meeting with her parents Scott and Anne Richardson. Highland Park Middle School Principal Dr. Chirs Miller introduced Mary Claire to trustees during the meeting and presented her with a recognition certificate and a framed rendering of her award-winning artwork.
Every year, Superintendent Dr. Tom Trigg sends a personally signed birthday card adorned with student-designed artwork to every one of HPISD’s 800-plus employees on their special day.
