Water Walk teaches valuable lessons

McCulloch Intermediate School sixth-grade students participated in the annual Water Walk to learn about the difficulty some countries have in accessing clean water. The project is an annual collaborative lesson between Language Arts and Social Studies classes. This year, cross-curricular activities were expanded to include water-related lessons in math, science and art.

In science, students learned about the causes and effects of the Pacific Garbage Patch. Math classes provided the opportunity to learn the basics of coding through a virtual reality activity about cleaning up a coral reef and students in Art learned various techniques related to watercolor painting. In conjunction with the Water Walk project, students collected and donated nine pallets of water to the North Texas Food Bank.
