This past weekend, the HP Raider Band swept the competition at All-Region auditions, with 55 students earning spots in the coveted All-Region bands and three students earning alternate spots (for a total of 58 students).
- 55 members were accepted into the band (three members named alternates)
- 28 members earned spots in the top Region Band
- 28 members were ranked top five on their instruments
- Almost every section of the band had members earn top three spots
- Six members were named first chair
- (Grace Lopez on flute, Annie Pendleton on oboe, Preston Telfer on Bass Clarinet, Henry Zhu on Saxophone, Jake Neilson on euphonium, and Harrison Barden on tuba)
- Every member of the flute, clarinet, euphonium, and trombone made it into the band
- Almost double the number of students made the band of any school auditioning for the second year in a row
- The highest number of students made the band of any school for the third year in a row
- Most members of any band make first chair on their instrument
- Over 400 students from over 15 schools auditioned for spots in the bands this weekend
Students who earned spots and alternate spots will represent HPMS in a special clinic and concert held at Duncanville High School Saturday, December 4th.
