Friday, Dec. 6 marks the last day of Inclusive Schools Week. This year's celebration included various opportunities for students, staff, volunteers, parents and community members to acknowledge how important it is to create a welcoming, inclusive and respectful environment for every person, every day.
Lessons from the week included classroom activities and discussions about being kind, showing empathy and ways to include others. Students in grades K-6 also attended a field trip to the disability awareness program entitled "To Be Like Me." Groups of students from Boone, University Park and Armstrong elementary schools have already attended this powerful program experience. Additional field trips will continue through April for students at Bradfield, Hyer and MIS.
Throughout the week HPISD shared videos about inclusion and respect on its social media channels.

These Panthers come with a diverse set of backgrounds and together they are able to help each other grow as learners by building a foundation of inclusion and respect.

Together, students are able to create a lasting understanding of what it means to be included through team-based activities. Thank you to our students who continue to go forth to serve.
