Thanks to the generosity of the Clements Foundation, the district is pleased to announce that Highland Park High School Director of Choral Music Natalie Walker-Brown has completed the National Board Certification program. Walker is the first HPISD teacher to complete all the steps necessary to earn national certification, which is the highest certification a teacher may obtain and is only offered through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).
"The National Board Certification Process was challenging and so rewarding!" Walker said. "I was looking for something that would help me take that next step in my practice. I am thankful to HPISD and the Clements Foundation for introducing me to this certification that truly helped me grow as an educator."
The Clements Foundation, through their significant grant to HPISD, funds the application process and needed resources for an HPISD teacher to complete the program. The certification process was developed by NBPTS to maintain high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do in the classroom.
