The HPHS Varsity and Junior Varsity Orchestras earned the highest scores possible in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Concert and Sightreading Contest held March 2 at Pearce High School. Both orchestras received First Division Concert and First Division Sightreading ratings to earn the highest honor in the competition, the Sweepstakes Award.
The UIL music program is designed to support and enrich the teaching of music as an integral component of Texas state curriculum. Each year, approximately half a million middle and high school students reap the benefits of participating in these music events.
The HPHS Orchestra Program thanks all the supportive parents, private teachers, administration, and the HPISD community for its support in helping these talented students achieve this accomplishment. The orchestra program is led by Orchestra Director Matthew Epperson.
