HPISD seniors named National Merit Finalists

The 14 Highland Park High School seniors named semifinalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program have all met requirements to advance to National Merit Finalists standing. Only about 95 percent of students across the country who were named semifinalist back in the fall advanced as Finalists.

These high achieving students entered the merit scholarship program by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as juniors, and only about 15,000 students from across the country qualified as finalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The nationwide pool of finalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

The HPISD National Merit Finalists are now eligible for consideration to receive merit scholarships. Approximately 7,500 scholarships worth nearly $30 million will be awarded. Merit Scholar designees are selected based on their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, and honors and awards received.
