Academic Decathlon team celebrated for sixth consecutive state title
Trustees honored the HPHS Academic Decathlon team on its sixth consecutive Medium School Division State Championship win Feb. 26 in San Antonio. HPHS' victory came against 40 of the top AcDec teams in Texas. The students also placed in the top three in the individual All-Around events. The team was awarded a total of $18,250 in scholarships. AcDec team members include Karina Zaydler, Elizabeth Chen, Jasper Chen, Anna Qian, Jack Jiang, Justine Choi, Catherine Lu, Ivy Mazzucchi, and Duke Stockton. Read the full story here.
Swimmer recognized for winning gold at state
The school board celebrated HPHS Senior Lindsey Hosch who brought home her second consecutive gold medal in the 100 Breaststroke and a bronze in the 100 Butterfly at the UIL 5A State Swimming and Diving Championship Meet Feb. 18 in Austin.
Wrestlers honored for top state finishes
The Scots wrestlers took seventh place at the UIL 5A State Wrestling Tournament Feb. 19. Three HP students were honored by trustees for their making it to the medal stand. Jarek Delgado and David Ray were recognized for third-place finishes in their respective divisions and Cooper Chapman for his fourth-place finish.
