Eleven HPHS students have successfully completed the two-year AP Capstone program that focuses on developing students’ skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing and presenting.
To complete the program, students prepared a 4,000-5,000 word academic research paper on a topic of their choice and presented evidence-based arguments before an oral defense panel. Presentations followed a 20-minute time limit. Topics ranged from ethics of CRISPR-Cas9 technology to effective teacher preparation programs to address underserved students and standardization of state prison nursery programs.
Students now have the opportunity to earn an AP Capstone Diploma or AP Research Certificate, which are offered through the College Board and valued by universities across the nation. Visit the
College Board AP Capstone Diploma Program webpage to learn more.
