Highland Park High School students celebrated with a special performance of the Star Spangled Banner by Park Version during the morning's pep rally (click here for the performance). The Raider Media broadcasting class focused their programming on Veterans Day by featuring flag artwork created by HPMS students in Jessica Butler's class as the studio's backdrop. Raider Media also covered the MIS/HPMS Veterans Day Concert and asked students to explain in their own words what Veterans Day meant to them and their families (click here to watch).
Armstrong Elementary held its annual Armstrong Veterans Day celebration in honor of the heroes who have served our country. The Eagles listened to a panel of guest speakers including Todd Boeding who shared his experience as a Marine, Rick Rowe who described his time as a translator in the Air Force and former Armstrong Eagle, Rabel McNutt, who shared her story of starting a nonprofit to help give a state funeral for World War II veterans. Boone Elementary also hosted its own Veterans Day celebration as well. The event would be the campus' first Veterans Day celebration for the school. Students engaged with a panel of veterans who each represented a branch of the military. The Bulldogs were thrilled to learn about the nation’s heroes.
Thank you, veterans, for your service to the United States.
