The HPHS Robotics Varsity Bell team earned third place overall and second place in the presentation at the Nov. 19 Bell AVR competition entitled Emergency Firefighting Challenge. The team had a tough start when the drone flipped to the ground and almost crashed on its very first run. The team stayed calm, and focused and showed remarkable teamwork and resilience. They fixed the drone, scored better steadily with each run for the remaining time and turned around to win over many other teams who were more experienced.
Team members include senior and captain Alison Zou, junior and captain Woodrow Dyer, senior Luka Zivaljevic, senior Sally Dai, senior David Pike, junior David Burns and sophomore Sally Wang.
