New HP Athletic Director announced

Coach Jordan comes to HP from Richardson ISD, where he served for eight years as Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach at Lake Highlands High School. As coordinator, he managed all phases of the budget, facilities, support staff, programs and coaches at the high school and in two feeder junior high schools. Prior to his RISD experience, he served as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Lone Oak High School. He has a total of 28 years of experience in high school athletics.

"Lonnie Jordan brings a wealth of experience in public school athletics to Highland Park ISD,” Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Scott Drillette said. “He has a deep understanding of our proud traditions of excellence, our values, and our focus on preparing student-athletes for leadership and service by emphasizing good character, sportsmanship, integrity, and academic achievement. We know his strong interpersonal skills will help him hit the ground running to keep HPISD on track for a successful 2023-24 athletic season.”

"I am honored to join Highland Park ISD, one of the premier athletic programs in Texas," Jordan said. "My goal as a coach has been to produce accountable and committed student-athletes. As Athletic Director, I want to continue this and have the opportunity to mentor young coaches, while providing experienced coaches the tools they need to compete and change young lives. We will build on the considerable success Highland Park has experienced in the past to launch us into the future."

Dr. Mike Rockwood looks forward to working with HPISD's new Athletic Director. "Coach Jordan is committed to student success and, like HP, places great value on providing exceptional experiences for student-athletes. With his commitment to fostering excellence in both boys and girls athletics, we look forward to building strong relationships within our community and to the opportunities that lie ahead."

The Highland Park ISD athletics department is excited to welcome Jordan, who has already attended his first HP athletics event as the new AD.

“Coach Jordan is a man of integrity whom I’ve developed a professional relationship with over the many years of coaching," said HPISD Coach and Boys Athletic Coordinator Randy Allen. "He is an effective communicator and administrator, excellent listener and problem solver, and is passionate to carry on the great Scot tradition in athletics in all sports.”

"I am excited to have Coach Jordan lead the HPISD Athletic Department," said Coach and Girls Athletic Coordinator Susan Bailey. "He will be an asset to the district and community. I look forward to working with him."

Coach Jordan earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Stephen F. Austin University and his teacher certification in the Region XI Teacher Preparation Program.

He and his wife, Laura have three children - 21-year-old Nathan, 20-year-old Andy and 18-year-old Ellie.
