HPISD announces new AD and MIS/HPMS and HPHS principals

Highland Park High School Principal, Jeremy Gilbert, was named the new Highland Park ISD Athletic Director; Highland Park Middle School Principal, Dr. Kevin Hunt, was promoted to Highland Park High School Principal; and Boone Elementary Principal, Amanda Reyes, was promoted to principal of McCulloch Intermediate School and Highland Park Middle School. All of these roles take effect at the end of the school year.

“We have amazing administrators in Highland Park ISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Rockwood. “As we prepared for the upcoming school year, it became clear that several of our campus leaders had the experience, knowledge, and desire to support our district in broader roles. They each know our campuses and they know our community. I have full confidence in the leadership of Jeremy, Kevin, and Amanda–who all speak just as highly of one another. ”

Jeremy Gilbert has been with the district since 2008, serving as principal at Hyer Elementary, Highland Park Middle School, and Highland Park High School. His long-standing tenure and familiarity with HPISD will enable him to step into the role of Athletic Director seamlessly.

“I am so honored and incredibly humbled to serve in this new role, which will support students and families from all across our district,” said Gilbert. “In fact, I am already partnering with Coach Allen, Coach Bailey, and all of our amazing coaches at HPHS and HPMS to help create the very best experiences for our students in the years ahead.”

Dr. Kevin Hunt has successful experience as both an elementary and secondary principal, including two years as the principal of Highland Park Middle School. Both his educational background and his time in our district have prepared him well for taking on the role of high school principal.

“What an honor it is to be the next principal of Highland Park High School,” said Dr. Hunt. “I have so enjoyed my experience at the middle school and my time working alongside Principal Gilbert and Principal Reyes. The three of us are well aligned, and we are already working side-by-side to ensure a smooth transition heading into the 2024-2025 school year.”

Amanda Reyes joined Highland Park ISD in 2019 as the inaugural principal of Boone Elementary. Since then, Boone has consistently received the highest academic marks, locally and statewide. She comes to MIS and HPMS with prior principal experience at the intermediate level.

“Ensuring all of our students are successful is why I come to Highland Park ISD each day,” said Reyes. “I am so fortunate to serve students from all across the district, and I am ecstatic to be a Raider.”
