First-ever Red River Unified game comes to Highlander Stadium Oct. 5

Highlander Stadium will host the first-ever Red River Unified football game showcasing Special Olympics athletes from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5.

The game is Special Olympics' version of the Red River Shootout that will be played the following day between the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma at Cotton Bowl Stadium. Special Olympics Texas athletes will pair up with college students from the UT and play against Special Olympics Oklahoma athletes and college students from OU. Organizers are working to have alums from both schools serve as honorary captains and coaches. It is part of the Unified Rivalry Series sponsored by ESPN and Special Olympics North America.
